Introduction
The New Guyana School has an an enhanced dismissal system for our students. This system has been put in place with two essential goals in mind:
- to enhance the safety and well-being of our children, and
- to streamline the dismissal process.
Key Features
- Students will be seated in the Auditorium at Dismissal time, instead of outside near the driveway.
- When they join the queue, parents will scan their unique NGS Badge to identify each child they're picking up.
- When the NGS Badge is scanned, students will be electronically notified that their guardian has arrived.
- Students will start making their way out while the guardian is still in the queue. By the time the parent reaches the pickup zone, the students will be already outside.
Process
To make this system work smoothly, we have outlined a simple step-by-step process for you to follow.
Step 1: Obtain Your Unique NGS Badge
Each child has been given two physical NGS Badges:
- one for them to wear to school every day, and
- one for their guardians to pick them out in the afternoon.
An example of the NGS Badge is shown below.
Digital version
A digital version of your NGS Bardge is also available in your Student Portal.
Please log in to your student portal at portal.newguyanaschool.com and navigate to the "Pickup Card" section. There, you will find your unique NGS Badge.
To login, you will need your Student ID. This is an 8-digit number found on all of your receipts and invoices from the New Guyana School. For example, 20161234.
Please click here to contact us if you have any issues getting your NGS Badge.
Step 2: Scan your NGS Badge at the Security Checkpoint
Upon arriving at the school for pickup, please scan your NGS Badge at the Security Checkpoint. This will mark your arrival and relay the message to the children in the auditorium.
If you are picking up multiple children, you will need to scan an NGS Badge for each child.
Step 3: Pickup as Normal
After successfully scanning your NGS Badge, you may proceed with the pickup of your child as usual.
Taxis, buses, etc.
If you rely on a taxi or bus to pick up your child, that's totally fine! Just make sure that the driver always has a copy of your child's NGS Badge.
Traffic regulations
Note that we have also introduced some traffic regulations for our School Zone. You may find these by clicking here. Please be guided by these in all your drop-offs or pickups around the School Zone.
What if I forget my NGS Badge?
If you or your child forgets your NGS Badge, our security personnel will need to go through a manual process to verify you and dismiss the child. This will slow down the dismissal process, so we kindly ask that you be diligent about remembering your NGS Badges.
How can I get a replacement NGS Badge?
If you need extra physical copies then we ask that you please submit a Customer Support Request online by clicking here. To cover administrative costs, and deter carelessness with the student badges, we will replace the student badges + lanyard combo at a cost of $1000.
New NGS Badges will be available on the first Monday of the week, so please plan accordingly.
