Happy Teachers' Day 2023 to all our hardworking, dedicated teachers. To you who have devoted yourselves to the growth and well-being of our little children. To you who daily display the incomprehensible heart of Jesus in going after the one lost sheep in your classrooms. Like Him, you are the servants of the weak, the vulnerable. Picking up the lowly. You humble yourselves daily so that they can be lifted up. Strengthening their feeble knees and their shaky hands, teaching them to speak, to write, to think and reason, to walk and carry themselves with grace, to treat others with love and kindness, to be courageous and hardworking, to help those in need, to be disciplined and self-motivated, and, above all these things, to trust wholly in the Living God, the Most High King, the Holy One of Israel.
It is teaching that transforms people. You are the unsung heroes of world history. The great teacher Aristotle was summoned to teach Alexander the Great, and this shaped the course of Greek civilization. Far more marvellous than this, our Lord Jesus, in the days of His flesh, was an itinerant Teacher. His Words transformed the hearts of all those who followed Him. The Holy Spirit, our Helper, was sent to be our Teacher and to remind us of all that Jesus taught. By His constant teaching, He continues to shape and mould us all.
John 14:26 (ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Teachers, we are the ones shaping the future of Guyana. Don't let the frustrations of the moment overwhelm you. Remember the larger goal ahead. God has given us the enviable opportunity to labor alongside Him as He builds His Kingdom. Keep your mind fixed on the big picture. Your efforts are shaping the hearts and minds of the people in our society tomorrow. All of the things we see lacking around us today, we are able to impart it to these precious and impressionable children.
Let us hold fast with patience and perseverance. Let us remember that each day is a beautiful, well-laid brick, building up the glorious temple of God.
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
