Updates on Enhanced Dismissal System

Written by New Guyana School | Oct 16, 2023 12:01:35 PM

Please see below for a few updates regarding our new Dismissal System.

  1. We are at 60% adoption for Grade 1 - We thank you for your continued patience and support as we iron out all the wrinkles in the process and optimize its efficiency.  Note that, for the safety of the children, we do need all the Grade 1 parents to be enrolled in the card system.

  2. Rollout to Grade 2 is delayed - Rollout to Grade 2 and higher grades is delayed. We will announce when we are ready to expand to Grade 2. Before this, we must get to 100% adoption in Grade 1 and clean up all the hiccups in the system.

  3. Pick-up times are adjusted by 10 minutes - We have added a 10-minute gap to our official pick-up times. This is to allow our students sufficient time to move from their classrooms to the designated pickup zones.

  4. Road markings have been freshly repainted - The road markings have been freshly repainted to reinforce traffic regulations in the School Zone. We ask that you follow the road markings carefully.

  5. Traffic regulations have been posted - We have shared a set of traffic regulations to assist you in understanding how to contribute to a safe and orderly School Zone.

1) We are at 60% adoption for Grade 1

Currently, 60% of Grade 1 parents have successfully enrolled in the new system. We thank you all for your patience and support as we iron out all the wrinkles in the process.

We do need the remaining 40% of parents to also adopt this crucial safety measure. For the safety and security of all our students, we need every parent to be enrolled in the card system, either through the online portal or by visiting us in person. We are committed to ensuring that this system is in place and effective for everyone.

If you are a Grade 1 parent who has not yet enrolled, please expect to be contacted individually throughout the week to assist you in the enrollment process. We are dedicated to providing all the necessary support to ensure that every parent is part of this essential safety initiative.

Thank you for your cooperation in making our school pickup process safer and more efficient for everyone.

2) Rollout to Grade 2 is delayed

The rollout of the new card system to Grades 2 and up will experience a delay by a few weeks. Our primary focus is to ensure Grade 1 operates smoothly with the pickup card system before extending it to other grades. We anticipate this adjustment to take some more time. This means that Grade 2 will not commence using the new system tomorrow as previously planned.

Rest assured, we will keep you informed about our readiness to expand the pickup card system to Grade 2. This delay provides an opportunity for parents of other grades to acquire their pickup cards. We do want to reiterate that we will eventually need all students to enroll in the new system.

We appreciate your understanding as we work diligently to enhance the safety and efficiency of our pickup process. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this transitional period.

3) Pickup times are adjusted by 10 minutes

We have added a 10-minute gap to our official pick-up times. This is to allow our students sufficient time to move from their classrooms to the designated pickup zone. The updated pickup times are therefore as follows:
  • Grade 1 and 2 – 3:40pm
  • Grade 3, 4 and 5 – 4:10pm
  • Grade 6 - 5:10pm
  • Secondary - 10 minutes after last subject

Please note that the gates will officially open at exactly 3:40pm. Your cooperation in adhering to this regulation is greatly appreciated, as this contributes to the safety and efficiency of our pickup process.
